ESPER CARE AND PERSONALITY
Feed, groom, train, encourage, and spend quiet moments with a companion whose bond and history remain part of its continuing story.

More Than a Collection of Combat Statistics

An Esper remembers more than its level and learned abilities.

Every class Esper keeps a saved record of its personality, mood, bond, care interactions, battles, deaths, Rage activations, and other important moments shared with its owner.

Care provides Esper Experience and Bond Experience outside of ordinary combat. It also changes the companion's current mood and adds another interaction to its permanent class history.

Every class Esper has its own relationship history.

Feeding your Mage Esper does not increase the care totals or bond of your Knight Esper. Each class-bound companion remembers its own interactions independently.

OPENING THE CARE WINDOW
Care is managed from the Esper belonging to your currently active class.
Companion Orb
Double-click the Class Companion Orb in your backpack and open the Esper section.
[Esper
Opens the Esper setup or status window for your current class.
[EsperStatus
Opens the same Esper management interface.
Double-Click Esper
Double-click your active Esper to open its complete status window.

Open the Care tab to view:

• all six care actions
• the remaining cooldown for each action
• the current care-status label
• total feedings and groomings
• total training and meditation sessions
• total encouragement and calming interactions

ESPER CARE ACTIONS
Every interaction provides a different balance of experience, bond, mood, and availability.
Care Action Esper Experience Bond Experience Resulting Mood Care Status Cooldown
Feed Esper 15 3 Content Fed 15 minutes
Groom Esper 10 4 Calm Groomed 20 minutes
Train Esper 60 2 Fierce Trained 1 hour
Meditate 25 3 Calm Meditating 30 minutes
Encourage 20 2 Eager Encouraged 10 minutes
Calm 10 3 Calm Calmed 10 minutes

Current Esper care actions do not consume food, grooming tools, training equipment, or other physical items.

Select the care action directly from the Esper window once its cooldown is ready.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT INTERACTION
Every care action contributes, but each one emphasizes something different.
Most Experience
Train Esper provides 60 experience, making it the largest single care reward. Its one-hour cooldown is also the longest.
Most Bond
Groom Esper provides four Bond Experience, the largest bond reward from one care action.
Shortest Cooldowns
Encourage and Calm can each be used once every ten minutes.
Changing Mood
Use care to move the Esper toward Content, Calm, Eager, or Fierce depending upon how you want it presented.

CARING FOR AN ACTIVE OR VEILED ESPER
Care is applied to the saved class record rather than only to the temporary creature body.

Care actions can improve the Esper record even when its temporary body is not currently standing in the world.

When the Esper is active:

• its live form is refreshed from the updated record
• it speaks in response to the selected care action
• changes to mood are immediately visible in its profile

When the Esper is in the spirit veil, the experience, bond, mood, cooldown, and history are still stored and will be present when it is summoned again.

CARE STATUS
The most recent interaction is recorded as part of the Esper's profile.

Every successful care action records a care-status label:

• Fed
• Groomed
• Trained
• Meditating
• Encouraged
• Calmed

The system stores a twenty-minute care-status timer. In the current implementation, this status is a saved profile label and does not provide a separate combat-stat bonus.

The displayed label may remain visible until another care interaction replaces it.

CARE COOLDOWNS
Each interaction has its own timer.

Using one care action does not place every care option on cooldown.

For example, feeding the Esper begins the feeding cooldown but does not prevent you from grooming, encouraging, calming, meditating with, or training it when those actions are available.

The remaining time appears beside an unavailable action in the Care tab.

Care cooldowns:

• are saved separately for every care action
• belong to the current class Esper
• continue while the character is offline
• survive server saves and restarts
• are not shared between different class Espers

CARE AND ESPER BOND
Small interactions accumulate into a long-term spiritual relationship.

Bond Experience is earned through:

• care actions
• combat participation
• damage received by the Esper
• Esper death and reformation

Every 100 total Bond Experience raises the Esper by one Bond Rank, up to a maximum of Bond Rank 10.

Bond Rank Total Bond Experience Required
Rank 1 100
Rank 3 300
Rank 5 500
Rank 7 700
Rank 10 1,000

Higher Bond Ranks increase the Esper Experience awarded during periodic combat participation.

At Bond Rank 5, the Esper's normal reformation cooldown after death is reduced from two minutes to one minute.

CARE AND ESPER LEVELS
Care can continue advancing an Esper even when there is no battle nearby.

Experience earned through care is added directly to the current class Esper's saved progression.

When care causes an Esper to gain a level, it receives the same normal level rewards as it would from combat progression, including:

• one additional Ability Point per level
• additional saved stat progression
• additional saved skill progression
• later resistance, damage, and defense growth
• improved Rage progression
• a stronger owner stat aura at the appropriate level milestones

Care is therefore useful both as relationship progression and as steady long-term Esper development.

ESPER MOOD
Mood reflects what the Esper has recently experienced.
Mood Common Causes Presentation
Calm Initial creation, grooming, meditation, or calming Uses the Esper's calmer dialogue style.
Content Feeding Reflects a recently tended and satisfied companion.
Eager Summoning or encouragement Reflects readiness to move and act beside its owner.
Fierce Training or entering Rage Uses the Esper's more aggressive dialogue style.
Restless Esper death and spiritual reformation Reflects disruption caused by being shattered into spirit-light.

Mood is a saved part of the Esper profile.

It currently changes dialogue and presentation rather than providing a separate general damage, defense, experience, or stat modifier.

ESPER PERSONALITY
Personality represents the temperament associated with the class that formed the bond.
Personality Associated Classes
Fierce Berserker and Barbarian
Wary Rogue, Assassin, and Ninja
Loyal Paladin, Cleric, and Priest
Watchful All other classes

Personality:

• is selected automatically when the class Esper record is created
• is displayed on the Esper's Profile page
• remains saved with that class Esper
• cannot currently be changed through the player interface
• does not currently provide a separate combat-stat bonus

The current dialogue system responds primarily to gender aspect, mood, level, bond, and the event that caused the Esper to speak. The saved personality label provides class identity but does not currently select a completely separate dialogue library.

SPEAKING WITH YOUR ESPER
The companion can answer its owner and acknowledge the moments shared between them.

Your active Esper listens to its owner within eight tiles.

Include the word Esper in your speech to receive a response.

Spoken Phrase Result
Esper status Opens the Esper Status window and produces a spoken response.
Esper report Opens the Esper Status window and produces a spoken response.
Esper calm Performs the Calm care action when its cooldown is ready.
Esper help Opens the Esper help topic.
Any other phrase containing “Esper” Produces a general personality response.

The Esper also speaks when:

• summoned
• entering Rage
• leaving Rage
• learning an ability
• being fed
• being groomed
• being trained
• meditating
• being encouraged
• being calmed

Its responses may address the owner as master or mistress and change between calmer and more aggressive wording according to the current mood or Rage state.

CARE RESPONSES
Every interaction receives a recognizable response from an active Esper.
Interaction Esper Response
Feed “The offering steadies me.”
Groom “The veil clings less tightly now.”
Train “Sharpen me again when the hour turns.”
Meditate “Quiet strengthens the bond.”
Encourage “Your voice pulls me forward.”
Calm “I will breathe with you.”

THE ESPER'S SAVED STORY
The profile preserves a history of care, hardship, and growth.
Care History
Feedings, groomings, training sessions, meditations, encouragements, and calming interactions are counted separately.
Battle History
Combat-participation checks are recorded while the Esper fights beside its owner.
Deaths
Every time the Esper is shattered into spirit-light, its total death counter increases.
Rage History
Every successful Rage transformation is added to the Esper's permanent activation total.

The saved class record includes:

• the time of the most recent feeding
• the time of the most recent grooming
• the time of the most recent training session
• the time of the most recent meditation
• the time of the most recent encouragement
• the time of the most recent calming interaction
• the time of the most recent general care interaction
• the most recent summon time
• the most recent death time
• care totals
• combat-participation totals
• death totals
• Rage activation totals

Not every saved timestamp is currently shown on the player-facing profile, but it remains part of the Esper's class record.

UNDERSTANDING THE HISTORY COUNTERS
Battles

The Profile page labels one counter as Battles. This counter increases during periodic combat-participation checks.

A long fight can therefore increase the value several times. It represents recorded combat activity rather than an exact count of separate enemies or encounters.

Deaths

The Deaths value is increased each time the active Esper is defeated and enters its reformation cooldown.

Boss Kills

A Boss Kills field is visible on the Profile page. The supplied system does not currently include a gameplay hook that increases this counter, so it is reserved for future expansion.

THE PROFILE PAGE
Identity and history remain visible even though the creature body can be dismissed and rebuilt.

The Esper Profile page displays:

• name
• gender aspect
• personality
• spirit form
• whether the first bond has been created
• whether the temporary body is currently in the world
• total deaths
• recorded battle activity
• the reserved Boss Kills value

From the Profile page, players may:

• rename the Esper
• change its male or female gender aspect
• select another visual spirit form

Personality is shown on the profile but cannot currently be changed by the player.

WHAT SURVIVES?
The visible body is temporary. The relationship is not.

The following survive dismissal, logout, disconnection, server saves, restarts, class changes, and Esper death:

• personality
• mood
• Bond Rank and Bond Experience
• care cooldowns
• the most recent care-status label
• care timestamps
• care totals
• battle activity
• death history
• Rage activation history
• name, gender aspect, and spirit form
• Esper Experience and levels
• learned abilities and other progression

Returning to the same class restores the same Esper profile and its complete history.

FUTURE CARE AND BOND EXPANSION

The Esper profile contains saved fields reserved for:

• additional care phrases
• additional Bond Rank rewards

The current supplied system does not yet unlock additional player commands, dialogue sets, or combat bonuses through these reserved fields.

Battles make an Esper stronger. Care gives that strength a history.
Spend time with the companions bound to your classes, develop their bond, and allow every interaction to become part of the story they remember.
The spirit veil may hide an Esper from sight, but it does not erase the life shared between companion and owner.
